2019 December Latest News

It is confirmed that Gary Piper sailing 1094 has won the 2019 Unicorn travellers trophy with Dan Jarman close behind in the points. I inadvertently published these results in the September Latest News Report but as no further races took place in 2019 they were correct. At the 2019 Nationals it was the 2018 Travellers Trophy which was presented, also won by Gary. Congratulations to Gary for his attendance at these meetings which are held around the UK and promote the Class.

It seems that the Unicorns have been tucked away for the Winter early this year, while the top Class sailors have been trying their hand at foiling their A Class boats with various degrees of success and frustration !

It is now confirmed that the 2020 Unicorn Nationals will be held at the Stokes Bay Sailing Club on the Solent in Hampshire from the 4th to the 6th September 2020. Please reserve this date in your new 2020 diary. They are planned to be held in conjunction with 'A' Class Nationals which should make for an interesting event. Full details will  be published by Stokes Bay S C early in 2020.

2019 has been a good year for sailing with mainly moderate strength winds, except for the Nationals at Stone, which tested the competitors and boats to their limits for sailing. The Unicorn once again proved its strength and competitiveness at Open Meeting events and is excellent value for adrenaline seeking single handed sailors. Try to get more of your fellow Club Members to try sail a Unicorn and get them on the water competing with us in 2020.

On behalf of the Unicorn Committee we wish you all a very Happy Christmas and New Year.
