Dan Jarman competing at the 2020 Stokes Bay National Championships

Congratulations to Dan Jarman on winning the 2020 National Championships. The 3 day event which was arranged by Gary & Tanya Piper in conjunction with Dave Roberts Stokes Bay SC. was one of the few UK championships in 2020 to actually take place due to the CORID 19 lockdown restrictions. Thanks to their efforts,  9 unicorns competed and enjoyed a closely contested championship in various wind strength  conditions. It was great to see two new sailors, Brian Whitney and Paul Grattage who finished respectively 3rd and 5th overall. All contestants completed the 8 race series which illustrates the reliability of well maintained Unicorns.  Most of the contestants used the latest GP sail which replaced the CAWS. Full race details are available in  a separate article. The Association AGM was held during the event. The minutes can be viewed in the members section of this web site. Gary Piper remains the Champion of Champions with 16 Titles. followed by John Wright 13 Titles and now Dan Jarman with 6 Titles. Hopefully 2021 will be a more normal year for sailing and it will be interesting to see if the more mature sailors can continue their reign as the leading UNICORN helms. Keep SAFE and WELL
